1. Introduction and Scope
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how Luis Mar LABS ("Developer", "we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the mobile application DeskDroid Explorer ("App"), available on Google Play.
This Policy applies to all users of the App, regardless of their country of residence. For users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, additional rights apply under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent national laws.
By installing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.

3. Our Core Privacy Principle
DeskDroid Explorer does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data on external servers.
All operations — file management, media playback, document conversion, ZIP archiving, and local server functionality — are performed entirely on your device. The App has:
- No account or login system
- No analytics or tracking SDK (no Firebase, no AdMob, no Crashlytics)
- No advertising network
- No backend server or database
- No cloud synchronization
4. What Information the App Accesses (On-Device Only)
Although no data leaves your device, the App accesses the following resources locally to provide its services:
4.1 File System
The App reads and writes files on your device's internal storage and connected USB drives. This access is used exclusively to display, copy, move, delete, compress, convert, or open files. File paths and content are never transmitted externally.
4.2 Media (Photos, Videos, Audio)
The App accesses photos, videos, and audio files for:
- Viewing images and playing videos within the built-in viewer
- Playing music files in the audio player
- Converting images to PDF or between image formats
No media content is ever uploaded, analyzed, or shared.
4.3 Camera
Used exclusively when the user actively chooses to take a photo within the Images-to-PDF converter. No photos are transmitted.
4.4 Microphone / Audio Recording
Used by media-related features within the App. Audio is stored locally only and never transmitted.
4.5 Music Library Metadata
The App uses the Android MediaStore and OnAudioQuery API to read music metadata (song title, artist, album, playlist names) from your device. This is used solely for the Music Library feature. No metadata leaves your device.
4.6 Network (Local Only)
The App uses internet access for:
- Local Wi-Fi File Server: An optional HTTP server accessible only within your home/office LAN. You start and stop it manually.
- DLNA / Cast: Broadcasting media to devices on the same local network.
- Earthquake Alerts: Fetching publicly available seismic data from services such as USGS (earthquake.usgs.gov). No personal data is included in these requests. The external API's own privacy policy applies.
The App does not connect to any proprietary server operated by the Developer.

6. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
The App offers optional premium features. All transactions are processed exclusively by Google Play Billing. The Developer does not receive, process, or store any payment information (credit card numbers, bank details, etc.).
Purchase data (entitlement only — whether a subscription is active) is managed by Google Play and verified locally on your device. No purchase history is transmitted to Developer servers.

8. GDPR — Rights of EEA/UK Users
If you are residing in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679):
8.1 Legal Basis for Processing
Since the App does not process personal data on external servers, there is no personal data processing activity that requires a legal basis under Article 6 GDPR. Any on-device processing of your files or media is carried out at your explicit instruction and under your full control.
8.2 Your Rights
Right of Access (Art. 15 GDPR) You have the right to request confirmation of whether we process your personal data. Given that no personal data is collected, we can confirm that no personal data is held by us.
Right to Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) Since we hold no personal data, there is nothing to correct. All your data remains on your own device under your control.
Right to Erasure / "Right to be Forgotten" (Art. 17 GDPR) As no personal data is stored by us, erasure is not applicable. Uninstalling the App removes all local app data from your device.
Right to Restriction of Processing (Art. 18 GDPR) Not applicable — no external processing occurs.
Right to Data Portability (Art. 20 GDPR) Not applicable — no personal data is held by the Developer.

8.3 Data Transfers Outside the EEA
The App does not transfer personal data outside the EEA, as no personal data is collected or stored. The only external network requests are calls to public APIs (e.g., USGS earthquake data), which contain no personal identifiers.
9. Data Retention
The Developer does not retain any personal data. All files, preferences, and settings created by the App are stored locally on your device and are deleted when the App is uninstalled.
10. Security
The App does not transmit sensitive data over networks. The optional local Wi-Fi file server operates within your private local network and does not expose data to the public internet. The implementation uses Android security best practices.
11. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
DeskDroid Explorer is not directed to children under the age of 13, or under 16 in EEA countries where a higher age threshold applies. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since no data is collected at all, COPPA and GDPR Article 8 compliance is inherently satisfied.

12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
For users residing in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides additional rights. Since DeskDroid Explorer does not sell personal information and does not collect personal information for commercial purposes, CCPA obligations do not apply. Nevertheless:
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not share personal information with third parties for advertising purposes.
- No personal information has been collected in the past 12 months.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with the updated "Last Updated" date. For material changes, we will notify users through the App or via the Google Play Store update notes.
Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
